Back To Basics: Secure Guest WiFI

A simple issue today with simple solutions -- Guest WiFi.

It doesn't matter if you are a home user or a business, people expect to be able to get on the internet to interact.

If you have unsecured broadcasting networks, you're taking significant risks with your devices, data, and digital security.

For the home users with guest WiFi-enabled, get on Google, and find a YouTube video on how to enable a password on the guest network. If you have an open guest network, anyone within range of your network has access. In most cases, depending on what else is connected in your home, this provides a communication path to other devices therein. Why take the risk. Drop-in a decent 10 character passphrase and sleep a little better tonight.

In a corporate or enterprise setting, guest WiFi needs to log connections and be secured with a short time to live or one time credentials. Also, have WiFi VLANs outside of the secure network perimeter but behind the web filters to enforce acceptable usage and content policies.

If you need more information on tools and mechanisms to firm up your guest WiFi, shoot me a message, and/or follow the page. We will have more details coming soon.
